Abstract. Aguilar KEV, Vivas AYS, Acosta-López C. 2023. Genetic variation of Limnophora marginata Stein, 1904 (Diptera: Muscidae), associated with an altitudinal gradient in Pedro Moncayo Canton, Pichincha, Ecuador. Biodiversitas 24: 269-275. Analyzing heterogeneity insect populations is relevant to understanding its biology. Thus, we analyzed the genetic variability two “hunter-flies”, Tocachi and Jerusalem localities, Ecuador, using Polymerase Chain Reaction-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) mitochondrial Cytochrome oxidase I gene. Thirty alleles were detected from analysis five restriction enzymes; percentage polymorphic loci was higher (96.67%) than (80%). Haplotypes generated corresponding alleles, resulting a different haplotype for each individual. Several estimators used characterize population structure. The Analysis Molecular Variance (AMOVA) evidenced existence intra-population (94%) inter-population (6%), showing similar information that found through analysis. Fst fixation index indicated there no difference between (0.056, P<0.05). Nei's distance similarity L. did not show differences populations. From results deduce evolutionary force may be modelling existent gene flow, thus establishing low DNA advantageous molecular marker obtain established intra inter variability. characteristics useful successfully apply PCR-RFLP technique. Our findings highlight ecosystem connectivity despite habitat differences.

متن کاملSeasonal genetic variation in house fly populations, Musca domestica (Diptera: Muscidae).
Seasonal genetic variation was assessed in the common house fly Musca domestica. Allozymes at six gene enzyme system viz., ACPH, EST, G6PD, ME, AO and XDH were analyzed. Fourteen loci with twenty seven alleles were unraveled. The genetic variations were found to be affected to a great extent by environmental influence .F statistics has been used to calculate genetic variation which revealed tha...
متن کاملSpatial Genetic Variation in House Fly Populations, Musca Domestica (diptera : Muscidae)
Spatial genetic variation was assessed in the common house fly Musca domestica. Allozymes at three gene enzyme system unraveled ten loci which revealed seventeen alleles in house fly populations. F statistics revealed that except ACPH-1 and EST-3 all the other loci show inbreeding (Fis>Fst). Persistent heterozygosity was observed in ACPH-1(Fis= -0.140) which indicate random mating for this locus.
متن کاملCamptotarsopoda annulitarsis Stein: redescription, description of terminalia and new record to South Africa (Diptera: Muscidae).
Camptotarsopoda Strand (Diptera, Muscidae) comprises five species restricted to the Afrotropical region. The genus belongs to the subfamily Coenosiinae and tribe Limnophorini. The type-species, C. annulitarsis (Stein), is redescribed and the male and female terminalia are described and illustrated for the first time. The species is newly recorded from South Africa. The systematic placement of t...
متن کاملVariation and Genetic Structure in Platanus mexicana (Platanaceae) along Riparian Altitudinal Gradient
Platanus mexicana is a dominant arboreal species of riparian ecosystems. These ecosystems are associated with altitudinal gradients that can generate genetic differences in the species, especially in the extremes of the distribution. However, studies on the altitudinal effect on genetic variation to riparian species are scarce. In Mexico, the population of P. mexicana along the Colipa River (Ve...
